What is direct access?

Direct access is a scheme which qualifies barristers to take instructions directly from a client, enabling you to instruct a barrister without first going through a solicitor. As a client who needs legal advice or representation in court, this could save you money in legal fees.

How does the portal work?

Designed by the Bar Council, the Direct Access Portal is the most extensive listing of barristers available for direct instruction in England and Wales. The portal allows you to search the profiles of Direct Access qualified barristers to find the right advisor or representative for your case.

What is a barrister?
