I have occasional involvement in this field, as part of my general personal injury work.

Commercial

My experience includes advising and representing businesses in contract disputes with other businesses and their own customers, and businesses in disputes with their landlords.

Construction, Engineering and Infrastructure

As part of my general common-law work, I both advise and represent people and businesses in domestic and commercial building disputes.

Employment and Pensions

I have undertaken tribunal and advisory work since the mid-1980s, both for employers and employees.

Fraud

Almost any civil field is capable of being affected by true and false fraud allegations. Alas, this issue comes up with sad frequency .

Landlord and Tenant

My primary experience is in residential landlord and tenant AST work, for both landlords and tenants. I have also offered advice and representation in areas such as service charges, leasehold enfranchisement and management, and unusual leaseholds.

Personal Injury

I have engaged in this field since the early 1980s, in both the County Court and High Court. My current work is primarily for claimants.

Private International Law

I have experience of cross-border issues involving service of process, the mechanics of cross-border litigation and enforcement of foreign judgments.

Travel

I have both advised and represented individuals engaged in travel sickness and airline delay claims.

What sort of work do I do?

I have restricted my work to civil law since about 1998, and have experience of most of the fields of law encountered in everyday life, including - business and consumer contracts, employment and discrimination, residential and commercial landlord and tenant issues, general land law, and the area of civil wrongs known generally as torts, for example - personal injuries, nuisance, ordinary and professional negligence. I also have experience of private international law and regulatory work.
Upon request, I will consider any area of civil law not specifically mentioned either here or in my 'areas of law' section.
At time of posting [April 2022] , my fees for civil work of normal responsibility are set at £160+VAT per hour. Unusually serious work is performed at rates subject to negotiation. I agree flat fees in the right circumstances. Please note that the fees section of this website does not allow flexibility of expression.

Who do I work for?

I have a mix of private and business clients.
LOCATION: The website is not flexible on this topic. I am physically located in Sussex, and most of my clients are from Greater London and the South-East. However, I have covered cases from Penzance up to to Edinburgh and from Cardiff across to Norwich.
