Area of Law

Inquests and Public Inquiries

I have many years experience appearing in the most high profile Inquests and Public Inquiries on behalf of an array of lay, professional and corporate clients including Medical Practitioners, NHS Trusts, Private Healthcare companies, Police Forces, Senior Officers, and the IOPC. I have acted as Counsel to the Inquest on behalf of Coroners and represented the interests of numerous individuals and organisations before the Covid Inquiry, the Undercover Policing Inquiry, and Independent Inquiries into Child Sexual Abuse.

Professional Discipline

For decades I have been instructed in professional misconduct cases, associated appeals and high court proceedings both defending individual practitioners (or groups of practitioners) or presenting on behalf of the professional bodies advancing allegations. My caseload has included allegations of abuse of authority, inappropriate physical and sexual behaviour, financial irregularity, fraud, excessive use of force, and discrimination.

Public and Administrative Law

My public law work is linked to the misconduct and coronial work that I undertake.

What sort of work do I do?

I regularly appear on behalf of individuals facing career threatening allegations of misconduct. I am also instructed on behalf of regulatory bodies to present such cases. I provide advice on tactics, strategy and evidence and on the merits of potential appeals. I act on behalf of individuals, corporates and state agencies in inquests and public inquiries.
