In addition to my experience as a Barrister and Commercial Litigation Solicitor, I also worked as in-house Counsel at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) from 2009-2017. As a result, I have around 20 years’ experience of advising UK/international companies, individuals or public bodies on matters of English Law and in complex litigation.

What sort of work do I do?

My specialist expertise includes:

* Financial Services & Fraud Cases: I can advise and represent individuals or firms defending themselves in investigations or enforcement claims brought by any of the financial regulators. For example, if you or your firm are facing an FCA investigation or Financial Ombudsman Service complaint, then I may be able to assist you. I may also be able to help you if you are making a claim against a professional firm or individual.

* Commercial / Contractual Disputes: If you are in a business dispute and your claim is worth more than £25k then I may be able to help you resolve it. This includes international disputes, if your agreement is governed by English Law (the relevant terms & conditions will usually have a ‘governing law’ clause explaining this).

* Alternative Dispute Resolution: I may be able to help you resolve your dispute out of Court if appropriate e.g. through Settlement Negotiations, Arbitration or Mediation. Whether this is possible will depend on the particular situation in each case, but I would aim to get you the best possible outcome in all the circumstances.

* Just Cash Flow Plc v. Construction Company & Director: successfully defending a Director and his Construction Company (both victims of ‘identity fraud’) in a contractual loan guarantee claim brought against him inappropriately by a business loan finance company.
