Direct Access Barrister

John William Nathaniel Rundall

I am a member of 1GC Family Law, one of London's leading specialist family law chambers. I specialise both in cases concerning the financial aspects of relationship breakdown and in resolving difficult disputes concerning children.

I have worked in family law since 2011, after qualifying with the highest marks in my call group and having been awarded various scholarships to study law.

I am acutely aware that my clients are going through a stressful time and try to combine pragmatic advice, a reassuring manner and robust representation. My aim is to achieve settlement where preferable but to present cases robustly in court to ensure the best possible outcome for my clients.

Area of Law

Family

I have ten years of experience in the family courts, appearing at levels from the Magistrates up to and including the Court of Appeal.

What sort of work do I do?

I advise clients to help them better understand their position in negotiations, provide written opinions about the likely outcome of court cases and represent clients in court hearings, negotiations and mediations.

I specialise both in cases concerning the financial aspects of relationship breakdown and in resolving difficult disputes concerning children.

My financial cases often involve assets in various jurisdictions, arguments about non-disclosure and family businesses. I have particular interests in cases involving family farms and in pensions, and have lectured on both topics.

My cases involving children often include those where domestic abuse is alleged and/or where one parent wishes to relocate overseas. I have had notable success in unlocking difficult cases without the need for final hearings but appeared in a number of high profile contested hearings.

Who do I work for?

Anyone who is dealing with the financial aspects of relationship breakdown or struggling to agree the arrangements for children to divide their time between their respective parents.
