Dr Chiy regularly appears at the High Court, County and Magistrates Courts throughout England and Wales, representing both Claimants/Applicants and Defendants/Respondents. He has a reputation for delivering on briefs at very short notice and being empathic but firm.

This ability and his 10-years call to the Bar is built upon 15 years as Solicitor himself, 11 years as a Solicitor-Advocate and 13 Years as a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, providing him with solid grounding to receive instructions from, and engage with, Solicitors and Legal Executives with good understanding of the challenges they may face - having been one of them .
Barrister Chiy's career has spanned both the private and public sector, having advised several departments of Her Majesty’s Government as well as regulators and private sector corporations as a Solicitor and Advocate. He is also a former magistrate.

Paul an in-depth knowledge and experience of commerce and industry. Although his clients range from sole traders to limited liability companies, the core of his instructions come from small business and medium sized businesses.  Paul specialises in Business Law, Company Law and Commercial Law that affect small businesses and is available to advise small enterprises on a broad range of business, corporate and commercial matters including company formation; mergers and acquisitions; franchising; asset, corporate governance, project and corporate finance; and shareholder agreements and shareholder disputes.

Paul's portfolio at the Office for Gas and Electricity (Ofgem) included advising on all aspects of information law. He regularly advises on private and public clients on Data Protection Act (DPA), GDPR, Freedom of Information (FOIA) and Environmental Information (EIR) issues, helping public sector clients to navigate the rules regarding FOI and EIR and can provide support and assistance with:
