Direct Access Barrister

Roshanak Amiraftabi

I am family law barrister specialising in all matters related to children, including those with an international element. I deal with cases about where and with whom children live and contact issues, disputes about schooling and travel abroad, as well as relocation of children abroad and cases of child abduction.

I have 30 years experience. I regularly represent clients at all levels of court. I have substantial experience of cases which are factually or legally complex, including those where there are allegations of domestic violence or mental health issues, or where the dispute about the children has become intractable, or where there are allegations of parental alienation. I also have substantial experience of cases where there is an international element, such as disputes about whether a child should travel abroad for a holiday or be permitted to live abroad permanently, known as relocation. I regularly appear in child abduction cases under the 1980 Hague Convention or in 'wardship' cases, as well as cases where there are arguments about whether a foreign order in respect of a child should be enforced in England.
