His criminal practice includes prosecution and defence in the full range of the most serious and complex criminal cases. These include murder/manslaughter, sexual offences (inclusive of child sexual offences, procuring abortions, prostitution etc), firearms offences, drug importation/supply, human trafficking, gang violence and serious organised crime.
Anand’s business crime practice covers serious fraud (including property, mortgage and tax fraud), directors’ disqualification, corruption, bribery, misconduct in public office, money laundering, restraint, account freezing orders and confiscation proceedings. What sort of work do I do?
Anand advises and provides representation in criminal defence trials and appeals. His appeals work includes advising and appearing in the Court of Appeal challenging both conviction and sentence in a board range of serious cases.
His business crime practice involves advice and representation to companies, directors, corporate secretaries, financial officers etc. on compliance, bribery and money laundering. This includes advice and preparation pre-investigation and during the investigation to avoid litigation being commenced and, if litigation is unavoidable then advice and representation at all stages of that litigation relating to any type of financial crime or misconduct.
Anand also advises and provides representation general civil trials and appeals e.g. contract disputes, property damage and land disputes. He also undertakes judicial review trials and appeals where the public bodies have acted unreasonably, irrationally, illegally or exceeded their legal authority.
Anand's niche appeals practice includes acting for individuals, companies and public bodies in appeals from the Caribbean to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in a broad range of criminal and civil cases.
