I have a broad-based practice in commercial snd employment law, acting in contractual disputes; shareholder and partnership disputes; breaches of directors' and partners' fiduciary and other duties; unfair dismissal and discrimination; and the enforcement of post-termination restrictions. I also undertake disputes relating to the shared ownership of property.

Chancery

I regularly advise as to disputes relating to the shared ownership of real property. This mostly arises in relation to unmarried couples or in family situations where one or more family members has contributed to the purchase of property (resulting or constructive trusts) or has undertaken work or made a sacrifice in reliance on a promise that they would obtain an interest in a property owned by another (proprietary estoppel). Such disputes also arise in relation to joint ventures involving the development of property.
In connection with property matters, I also have experience of boundary disputes and adverse possession claims.
Arising from such claims I have undertaken cases in the County Court and High Court and undertaken mediations.

Commercial

I have almost 40 year' experience advising and acting for companies, partnerships, directors, shareholders, senior employees and partners, appearing in the County Court, High Court and Court of Appeal, and conducting mediations. My practice covers share sale agreements; shareholder disputes, including unfair prejudice petitions and derivative claims; breaches by directors of their fiduciary duties; recovery of misappropriated property, including freezing and other injunctions; disputes between partners; and joint venture agreements.

Employment and Pensions

I have almost 40 years' experience advising and appearing in the Employment Tribunal in all areas of unfair dismissal and discrimination law, acting for both employers and employees. I deal with unfair dismissal, redundancies, TUPE, whistleblowing, discrimination, harassment and victimisation. Advice includes internal disciplinary matters and pre-emptive advice as to best practice and tactics in order to seek to avoid disputes. I have frequently been instructed on behalf of both employers and employees regarding the enforcement of post-termination restrictions and the protection of confidential information. I advise as to enforceability of covenants, the appropriate relief and as to tactics and procedure generally. I have appeared numerous times prosecuting or defending injunction proceedings in the High Court, advising and assisting at short notice on the preparation of evidence and orders.

What sort of work do I do?

My main area of practice relates to small and medium size businesses, both companies and partnerships. That encompasses contractual disputes between companies; matters relating to breaches by directors of their fiduciary and other duties; recovery of misappropriated assets including injunctive relief (Freezing Orders); shareholder disputes, including unfair prejudice claims; and disputes between partners.
In employment matters I advise and act for both employers and employees in unfair dismissal and discrimination claims in the Employment Tribunals, involving redundancy, TUPE, whistleblowing, discrimination, harassment and victimisation. I also advise and act for both employers and employees prosecuting and defending claims for injunctive relief arising from post-termination restrictions and the protection of confidential information.
I advise and act for individuals, families and commercial entities in relation to disputes over the shared ownership of property, particularly those involving unmarried couples; boundary disputes; and adverse possession claims.
