A barrister specialising in building, construction and engineering disputes with a background as a Chartered Surveyor, Chartered Construction Manager and Project Manager with real project experience of construction and the issues frequently encountered. I am also an accredited mediator and a panel adjudicator.

What sort of work do I do?

I provide advice, legal opinion and representation across a variety of building, construction and engineering disputes. A considerable volume of my work is construction adjudication, which is the main form of dispute resolution within the UK construction industry and I am an adjudicator as well. I also represent clients in mediations and in court. If possible, I always advocate the use of negotiation and the use of alternative dispute resolution to avoid court procedings. I have advised clients and/ or represented them in disputes for payment of work completed, disputes concerning defective work or design issues, planning permission and building control issues, and disputes over delays to projects and their financial consequences.
I also draft contracts or amendments to contracts and settlement agreements, after a negotiated settlement.

Housing, office, commercial, warehouse, schools, recreation, roads and engineering projects. My construction professional project experience is even wider including musuems, heritage spa, hotel, civil engineering and power station/energy projects.
