Direct Access Barrister

Zachary Salmon

I am a junior barrister at Old Square Tax Chambers. I practice in all areas of tax law and in related business and property matters.

My practice covers all UK taxes including (non-exhaustively): income tax, national insurance contributions, corporation tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, VAT, customs and excise duties, and SDLT. I also advise on wills, trusts and estates, and pension matters, and I am often instructed in company law and contractual disputes, and in insolvency matters where HMRC is the petitioning creditor.

Area of Law

Chancery

My tax practice often encompasses trust law, equity, company law, and insolvency matters. I am well positioned to advise on these areas as part of a tax matter, or separately.

Tax and Revenue

I am a member of Old Square Tax Chambers, a specialist and leading set of tax barristers.

What sort of work do I do?

My practice encompasses advisory and drafting work, as well as the representation of clients before tax tribunals, county courts, in the Insolvency and Companies Court, and in the Business and Property Courts of the High Court.

I also assist clients with any matter involving HMRC, including (but not limited to) all types of assessments and penalties, liability and information notices, and late appeal applications. I may draft documents and correspondence for clients and generally advise on strategy; as well as representing clients in litigation with HMRC.

If you are unsure about whether I am suitable for your case, please enquire and I will be happy to let you know.

Who do I work for?

I act for a broad range of clients including lay individuals, owner-managed businesses, and professionals (including accountants, trustees, and directors).
