Zakir is a well-known face at the Immigration Tribunals and can be found at the First-tier Immigration Tribunals either representing the Home Office or the Appellant. He has developed a strong paper-based practice having undertaken drafting for the Government Legal Department and private clients. He often finds advising on difficult legal issues surrounding Judicial Review and specialises in all aspects of immigration law.
Zakir is currently enlisted to represent the Secretary of State for the Home Department at the
Immigration and Asylum Tribunals.
Zakir also assisted in the historical appeals review project for the Home Office.
Zakir has worked on in all areas of family law both private and public family law matters which include financial remedy proceedings, child arrangement orders and care proceedings to name a few. Zakir also undertakes the QLR role directly appointed by the court.
He has extensive experience in civil litigation. Zakir is public access qualified and regularly accepts instructions on that basis from companies and private clients. Zakir is a Junior Junior Barrister on the Attorney General’s civil panel and receives regular instructions from the Government Legal Department.

What sort of work do I do?
Zakir advises on immigration, asylum and nationality law. He regularly represents people in the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration & Asylum Chamber) and Upper Tribunal and regularly undertakes immigration-related judicial reviews and appeals to the Court of Appeal. He deals with all aspects of Immigration, including asylum, humanitarian protection, deportation, EEA issues, entry clearance, settlement and the Points-Based Scheme, including the Tier 1 (General) system (Highly skilled individuals, Investors, Entrepreneurs and Post Study Work), applications for UK Work Permits under the Tier 2 System, as well as Student applications under the Tier 4 system. His field of expertise also covers immigration bail, deportation proceedings and European Union free movement legislation. He has represented clients from Europe as well as Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Bangladesh, Cameroon, China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Kosovo, Lebanon, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, the Philippines, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Sudan, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe.
